FEELWORLD FM8 Universal Compact Shotgun Video Microphone Review

The microphone easily attached to my camera. I did like that there was a replacement camera mount included (the red piece) as I’ve heard of people breaking those for similar looking mics. This one DID come attached to the red mount so there were no issues and I have a spare. The red piece is fairly flexible which has both pros and cons as the mic can move a little and not stress this piece, but the con being the mic can move.

As far as the mic audio, there was a good improvement when about 3 feet away and a major improvement when up closer. The audio is cleaner than the on mic camera which makes this a nice minor cost improvement.

There are different cables which allow you to attach the camera to a standard audio port or a TRRS port like on some iPhones.

The mic does not need batteries so there are no issues with needing the check the batteries before each use. This does seem to have a downside somewhat in that the mic doesn’t really have a power boost which would come from the batteries.

The mic comes with a pop filter screen as well as a wind screen filter which are nice additions for recording audio in any condition.

The mic can be sensitive with some light wind so if there is a breeze do not forget the wind screen filter.

I would definitely recommend this as a low cost alternative to the similar Rode mic.
